Asep Yudha Wirajaya

Abstract

The "Dhukutan" traditions stems from a local legend about a couple's romance that was also full of disputes between them. This unique legend is not only orally told from generations to generation, but also preseverd in a form of annual mass fight, invilving the people from two villages: Nglurah Lor and Nglurah Kidul. What is striking is that after the fight, there is no grudge among the people. Instead, they keep the romantic memory. As a result, the people of the two villages live in a harmony. This tradition is an implementation of the Javanese belief that emphasizes the inter-cosmos harmony.
